Shaun Wright-Phillips of Manchester City breaks clear of Cheick Tiote of FC Twente to score the opening goal during the UEFA Cup Group A match between Manchester City and FC Twente at The City of Manchester Stadium on November 6, 2008 in Manchester, England.
Two seasons before Twente won the Eredivisie, they finished as runners-up in both the league and the KNVB Beker.STADIUMFC Twente plays at the Grolsch Veste. In 2008, it was called the Arke Stadion and it had just 13,250 seats, but after a name change and renovations the Grolsch Veste has 24,000 seats.HERO OF THE FANSRight now it is Bryan Ruiz. But before he arrived it was Blaise N’Kufo. He became all time leading scorer and the club and even got a statue. Also Wout Brama is very popular because he is educated by the youth academy Twente.GOAL.COM PREDICTIONTwente have a very tough group with Inter, Werder Bremen and Tottenham Hotspur. Three clubs that are much better as Twente. Last season Werder Bremen were already too good for Twente in the Europa League. Inter is the favourite in the group and Werder and Tottenham will fight for the second spot. FC Twente will fail to progress to the second round.Michel Preud’homme is the new trainer for Twente. In his first few matches with the club he didn’t impress that much, but they have 8 points from of 4 matches. They play with 4 defenders (Rosales, Wisgerhof, Douglas and Tiendalli), two defensive midfielders (Theo Janssen and Wout Brama), Nacer Chadli and Bryan Ruiz on the wings and Marc Janko and Luuk de Jong in the front.SUCCESSESTwo seasons before Twente won the Eredivisie, they finished as runners-up in both the league and the KNVB Beker.STADIUMFC Twente plays at the Grolsch Veste. His current club team is FC Twente where he has played since 2008. He was a member of a club that just won the Dutch Title. According to the Sun, he is throught to be a transfer target at £4million. I will be following to see if there is any more interest from Fulham and Birmingham City in this player. If more information becomes available I will have an update.Comment 0 comments | 0 recs |twente-cheick twente-cheick
